The BD FACSAria III flow cytometer is a high-speed fixed-alignment bench top cell sorter. It is equipped with 4 lasers; 405nm (Violet), 488nm (Blue), 561nm (Yellow Green) and 640nm (Red). This instrument enables multicolor analysis of up to 12 fluorescent parameters with forward and side scatter signal. The quartz cuvette flow cell is gel-coupled by refractive index-matching optical gel to the fluorescent objective lens for optimal collection efficiency. Photodiode and PMT are used as detectors to analyze scatter and fluorescence. An octagon technology detector array enables user-defined detection configurations.

FACSAria III is specifically designed to sort cells at high flow speeds. It supports 2, 4-way and plate sorting. The sorted cells are collected in a variety of vessels of 1.5ml, 5ml or 15 ml collecting tubes, with four sizes of nozzles (70, 85, 100 and 130 micron) enabling a wide range of cells sizes. ACDU unit is applied for slide and plate sorting in 6-, 24-, 48-, 96- and 384-well plates. At 70 psi pressure and 90 kHz frequency with an average threshold rate of 25,000 events per second, a four-way sort can be achieved with >98% purity.
